The Galera Rough Rider Candela is the latest blend for the company’s value-priced Rough Rider line. Blend-wise, it uses a Dominican candela wrapper over a Mexican binder and Cameroon and Dominican criollo 98 and piloto cubano fillers.
Candela is a process that produces cigar wrapper with a greenish tinge (other times they can be a tan color with a green hint). In order to create candela tobacco, the tobacco is heated in a specialized barn at much higher temperatures than other tobaccos. Eventually, the moisture is removed, and the leaves become dry but are green because the chlorophyll hasn’t been removed, which results in the light tan to dark brown colors of those leaves. This is a mild- to medium-bodied smoke that is smooth, creamy and easygoing. Size: Robusto 5 x 50. Note: these are now shipping in plain packaging.
