Description

Over the past century, Brigham Enterprises has continuously evolved.  What began as a humble three-person operation making and repairing pipes grew into Canada’s largest manufacturer of pipes, later expanding into pipe tobacco and accessories, and ultimately becoming one of Canada’s premier distributors of Premium Cigars. Their journey has always been guided by simple principles: evolving with the times while remaining grateful for the partners, colleagues, and customers who have helped shape us along the way.

In celebration of their 100th anniversary, they introduced CXX GRATUS. The CXX Gratus cigar is one of a kind: The World’s First 52 x 6” cigar fully wrapped in Kentucky Fired Cured tobacco. Crafted by Ram Rodriguez of Tabacalera El Artista in Tamboril, Dominican Republic, it starts out bright and fruity with notes of dried nectarines, citrus, and white pepper, before transforming, just before the halfway point, into a darker, espresso and earth-forward profile, balanced by dark chocolate and spices. This intentional transition in flavour represents the evolution of Brigham Enterprises – from a pipe company that sold cigars to a cigar company that sells pipes.

A generous portion of Viso Jalapa adds a delicious sweetness to the profile, making the entire smoking experience incredibly enjoyable. Enjoy this unique anniversary cigars from one of Canada’s top cigar companies. Size: Toro Extra 6 x 52. Note: these are now shipping in plain packaging with authentic bands underneath.

About Brigham Enterprises

For more than a century, Brigham Enterprises Inc. has represented quality craftsmanship, innovation, and a deep connection to Canada’s pipe-smoking heritage. Founded in Toronto in the early 1900s, the company began as a small pipe repair business and grew into one of the most recognized names in the Canadian tobacco industry.

The story of Brigham begins with Roy Brigham, who opened a pipe repair shop in Toronto. His reputation for skilled repairs and attention to detail quickly created demand for his own handmade pipes. By 1906, Brigham had expanded into pipe manufacturing, producing pipes known for their quality, affordability, and excellent smoking characteristics.

One of the company’s greatest achievements was the development of the famous Brigham Rock Maple Distillator system. Created to address one of the common complaints among pipe smokers—tongue bite and harsh smoking characteristics—the system uses specially designed rock maple filters that help absorb moisture and provide a smoother, cooler smoking experience. The innovation became a defining feature of Brigham pipes and remains central to the brand’s identity today.

Throughout the 20th century, Brigham became a household name among Canadian pipe smokers. During its peak years, the company produced tens of thousands of pipes annually and developed a wide range of popular shapes and series. Classic collections such as the Heritage, President, Algonquin, Voyageur, and Klondike lines showcase the company’s commitment to combining traditional pipe-making techniques with distinctive Canadian character.

As smoking preferences changed over the decades, Brigham adapted by expanding beyond traditional pipes. In 1992, the company changed its name from Brigham Pipes Ltd. to Brigham Enterprises Inc. to reflect its broader focus on tobacco products, accessories, and cigars. The company later expanded its cigar offerings, becoming an important supplier and supporter of premium cigar culture in Canada.

Brigham’s involvement in cigars helped introduce Canadian enthusiasts to a wider selection of premium brands and boutique cigar experiences. By combining its historic reputation in pipes with a growing presence in cigars, the company became a bridge between traditional pipe smokers and modern cigar aficionados.

Today, Brigham Enterprises continues to honour its heritage while looking toward the future. Its pipes remain popular among collectors and everyday smokers who appreciate their unique filtration system, craftsmanship, and Canadian roots. More than simply a tobacco company, Brigham represents a tradition built on innovation, family dedication, and a passion for the art of smoking. With over 100 years of history, Brigham Enterprises stands as one of Canada’s most enduring names in the world of pipes, tobacco, and cigars—a company that continues to celebrate the timeless enjoyment of a carefully crafted smoke.
