The Romeo y Julieta Línea de Oro Dianas is one of the finest expressions of Cuba’s legendary Romeo y Julieta brand. Introduced as part of the premium Línea de Oro (“Gold Line”) series, the Dianas was created to celebrate the brand’s 145th anniversary and showcase a richer, more contemporary interpretation of its classic character. Measuring 5¾ inches (145 mm) with a 52-ring gauge, the Dianas offers a balanced format that allows its complex blend to develop gradually. Handcrafted in Cuba using carefully selected long-filler tobacco from the renowned Vuelta Abajo region, every cigar reflects the skill of experienced torcedores and the tradition of Cuban cigar making.

Unlike the milder profile traditionally associated with Romeo y Julieta, the Línea de Oro Dianas delivers a medium-to-full-bodied smoking experience. About Romeo y Julieta

The Romeo y Julieta brand began in Cuba back in 1875 and was founded by two men, Inocencio Alvarez and Manin Garcia. The Romeo Y Julieta brand is named after the popular work written by William Shakespeare. It didn’t take long for the brand to gain respect among Cuban cigar smokers (that respect continues to this day).

In 1903 the brand was purchased by businessman Jose Rodriguez Fernandez. Fernandez was well-traveled and introduced his cigars to respected citizens in Europe. Eventually, the brand became a cultural must-have for well to do Europeans. The success of Fernandez’ cultural marketing campaign helped the brand gain the reputation as being the cigar most likely to be seen between the fingers of the cultured and educated. Indeed, Romeo y Julieta were the favoured cigars for the late British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. The endorsement of the brand by Churchill led the company to  create a signature cigar size named after him, a size that is still at the forefront of their production – the Churchill.

Cuba holds the rights to the Cuban Romeo y Julieta trademark and continues to produce them to this day.  (Altadis USA also claims the rights to the trademark and produces a non-Cuban version in the Dominican Republic). You can still find the brand’s logo proudly sporting the many tasting medals it won at various contests and exhibitions over the years. The ability to stand the test of time pays true homage to Jose Rodriguez Fernandez’s approach and success.
