Description

The Romeo y Julieta Línea de Oro Hidalgos is one of the finest expressions of modern Cuban cigar craftsmanship. Introduced as part of the prestigious Línea de Oro (“Golden Line”) collection, the Hidalgos was created to celebrate the 145th anniversary of the iconic Romeo y Julieta brand. It represents a refined blend designed for smokers seeking exceptional balance, elegance, and complexity.

Handcrafted in Cuba using carefully selected long-filler tobacco from the renowned Vuelta Abajo region, the Hidalgos delivers a medium to full-bodied smoking experience. From the first draw, it offers a smooth combination of cedar, toasted almonds, cream, and subtle floral notes. As the cigar develops, flavours of roasted coffee, sweet spices, cocoa, and light leather emerge, creating a layered and sophisticated profile without overwhelming the palate. The Hidalgos features a beautifully constructed wrapper with a silky sheen and an expertly applied triple cap. Its excellent draw and even burn allow each flavour transition to unfold naturally, producing a rich aroma and a consistently satisfying finish. Whether enjoyed on a special occasion or as a well-deserved indulgence after a long day, this cigar rewards patient smokers with remarkable complexity and refinement.

For aficionados looking to experience one of the most luxurious offerings in the Romeo y Julieta portfolio, the Línea de Oro Hidalgos stands as an outstanding choice, combining traditional Cuban heritage with contemporary sophistication in every expertly crafted cigar. Size: 4.875 x 57. Note: these are now shipping in plain packaging with the authentic band underneath the plain band.

About Romeo y Julieta

The Romeo y Julieta brand began in Cuba back in 1875 and was founded by two men, Inocencio Alvarez and Manin Garcia. The Romeo Y Julieta brand is named after the popular work written by William Shakespeare. It didn’t take long for the brand to gain respect among Cuban cigar smokers (that respect continues to this day).

In 1903 the brand was purchased by businessman Jose Rodriguez Fernandez. Fernandez was well-traveled and introduced his cigars to respected citizens in Europe. Eventually, the brand became a cultural must-have for well to do Europeans. The success of Fernandez’ cultural marketing campaign helped the brand gain the reputation as being the cigar most likely to be seen between the fingers of the cultured and educated. Indeed, Romeo y Julieta were the favoured cigars for the late British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. The endorsement of the brand by Churchill led the company to  create a signature cigar size named after him, a size that is still at the forefront of their production – the Churchill.

Cuba holds the rights to the Cuban Romeo y Julieta trademark and continues to produce them to this day.  (Altadis USA also claims the rights to the trademark and produces a non-Cuban version in the Dominican Republic). You can still find the brand’s logo proudly sporting the many tasting medals it won at various contests and exhibitions over the years. The ability to stand the test of time pays true homage to Jose Rodriguez Fernandez’s approach and success.
