May 10, 2016 – Around 20 years ago a young attorney from Los Angeles decided to get out of the rat race and spend time doing something he loved. He risked everything to see if he could make a living from his true passion: cigars. His friends and family said he was crazy, especially when he told them he was going to use his own name for the brand. His brother was emphatic when he said, “nobody even knows who you are, and they won’t buy your cigars”. Thankfully, Rocky Patel didn’t listen to everyone else; he charted his own course that day and has been doing so ever since. He participates in hundreds of events every year; spends countless hours in Washington fighting the FDA; and has a hand in every single blend that his company brings to market. Tonight we are honoured to welcome a true giant in the cigar world – Rocky Patel.
