International Pipe Smoking Day
Mark February 20th on your calendars; it is International Pipe Smoking Day. Did you even know there was such a thing? We particularly like the group’s mission statement: “To foster links across the globe in honor of friendship, benevolence, and tranquility; and to celebrate the fraternity of pipe-smokers across all borders.” In honour of this august occasion, we will have a celebration here at Victory Cigars from 5:00-9:00 p.m. There will be lots of things to see, smoke or buy at the event. Lampe Berger Valentine’s Day Special

Once filled with fragrance, the user simply lights the stone disc at the top of the lampe. After a few minutes the flame is blown out, leaving the heated ceramic disc atop the wick. At this point, the flameless low temperature catalytic combustion process begins; the fragrance is drawn up the cotton wick and heated by the disc. This causes the fragrance to vaporize, suffusing the air with scent, deodorizing and improving the air. The effect is real, not imagined; users report vastly improved air quality after just one hour using the lampe.
The lampes are safe to use because they do not operate with an open flame, making the Lampe Berger much safer to operate than a scented candle. And the lower operating temperature means that, unlike scented candles, the aromatics are diffused efficiently without being burned. Lampe Berger lets you live in air you’ll love!

Cigar of the Week: Gran Habano Reserva #3
Last October we featured the Gran Habano Corojo #5 as our cigar of the week. Several of you have asked us to feature another Gran Habano; we are happy to oblige.
Gran Habano is in transition as the founder, Guillermo Rico, passes the business on to his son George. A third-generation tobacco producer and cigar maker, Guillermo Rico believes in patience. Building his business slowly and steadily through careful exposure of his cigars to the marketplace, his hallmark is attention to detail and a high reliance on strict quality control in traditional tabaquero fashion. For example, every bunch is draw-tested before wrapping, and finished cigars are inspected carefully at multiple stages of the production process.
In 2003, Guillermo introduced his Gran Habano family of long-filler, handmade cigars. This line of affordable blends was made possible because of Guillermo’s numerous farms. The farms are spread out over several countries so the company as a whole produces a wide range of tobacco types, allowing for unique and consistent blends. At the same time, prices are kept in check because the Ricos do not rely on middlemen. The brand consists of Blend #1, a mild but rich cigar with a Connecticut shade wrapper; Blend #3, a medium-bodied cigar in Habano wrapper; and Blend #5, a peppery, full-bodied cigar in Corojo wrapper.
We’ve selected the third blend, the Gran Habano Reserva #3 as this week’s feature cigar. The aged filler consists of Columbian and Nicaraguan long leaf tobaccos bound together by a Nicaraguan binder and wrapper. The finished cigars are aged a further two years to allow for the tobaccos to marry properly; this results is a rich, smooth, complex smoke that grows more delightful as you smoke the cigar.
