Description

The Hoyo de Monterrey Monterreyes No. 4 Edición Limitada 2021 is a refined Cuban release that highlights the elegant character for which the Hoyo de Monterrey brand is known. Introduced as part of the prestigious Edición Limitada series, this cigar was crafted using specially selected tobaccos from Cuba that were aged for a minimum of two years before rolling, a hallmark of Habanos’ limited editions.

Measuring 5¾ inches in length with a 55 ring gauge, the cigar is produced in the Maravillas No. 4 vitola, a robust yet balanced format that offers a satisfying smoking time of roughly 60 to 75 minutes. It is handmade in the renowned Vuelta Abajo region of Pinar del Río, widely regarded as the finest tobacco-growing area in Cuba.

Visually, the cigar features a dark, oily wrapper with a subtle reddish hue and is adorned with the traditional Hoyo de Monterrey band along with the distinctive black-and-gold Edición Limitada 2021 secondary band. Its construction is excellent, providing an even burn and smooth draw.

Flavour-wise, the Monterreyes No. 4 delivers a medium-bodied profile that evolves steadily throughout the smoke. Initial notes of cedar and light cream lead into richer layers of leather, toasted nuts, and roasted chestnut, complemented by hints of coconut and cocoa. The finish is long and balanced, with subtle sweetness and delicate spice lingering on the palate.

Produced in limited quantities and packaged in elegant boxes of ten, the Monterreyes No. 4 Edición Limitada 2021 is both a collector’s piece and a sophisticated smoking experience that showcases the depth and aging potential of premium Cuban tobacco.  Size: 5 3/4 x 55. Note: these are now shipping in plain packaging with the authentic band underneath the plain band.

About Hoyo de Monterrey

The Hoyo de Monterrey brand takes its name from a famous Cuban farm of the same name, located in San Juan y Martínez in Vuelta Abajo, Cuba’s finest tobacco-producing region. Cuba’s José Gener registered the Hoyo de Monterrey brand in 1865 and the cigar has long been a major name in Cuban cigars. The brand is named after the Basin of Monterrey, which refers to a fertile plantation bought by tobacco grower José Gener in 1860 that’s located on a river’s edge in the Vuelta Abajo region of Cuba.
