Description

The La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero Chisel is one of the most distinctive and powerful cigars produced by La Flor Dominicana. Known for its bold strength and unusual shape, the Chisel stands out immediately thanks to its flattened, wedge-like head, a patented design created by master blender Litto Gomez. This innovative head shape concentrates the smoke as it passes through the narrow tip, intensifying both flavour and strength.

Measuring approximately 6 inches with a 54 ring gauge, the Double Ligero Chisel is built around a potent blend of Dominican binder and filler tobaccos grown on Gomez’s farms in the Dominican Republic. The cigar earns its “Double Ligero” name from the heavy use of ligero leaves—the strongest tobacco priming on the plant—which creates a powerful, full-bodied smoking experience. An oily Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper completes the blend, adding complexity and richness to the profile.

Flavour-wise, the cigar delivers an intense yet balanced profile. Smokers often encounter bold notes of pepper, leather, and earth, complemented by hints of cedar, cocoa, and occasional sweetness. The dense concentration of smoke from the Chisel tip amplifies these flavours, producing a robust and lingering finish.

Despite its formidable strength, the Double Ligero Chisel is appreciated for its craftsmanship and complexity. It has earned strong critical acclaim, including ratings above 90 points from industry publications.

Designed for seasoned cigar enthusiasts, the La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero Chisel is a memorable smoke—bold, innovative, and unmistakably powerful, showcasing the brand’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of premium cigar blending. Size: Chisel 6 x 54. Note: these are now shipping in plain packaging with authentic bands underneath.

About La Flor Dominicana Cigars

La Flor Dominicana is a family-owned company started by Litto Gomez and Ines Lorenzo-Gomez in 1994. Before making cigars, Litto was in the jewelry business. A traumatic experience convinced him to switch careers—he was bound and robbed at gunpoint in his jewelry store.  When he began his new path, his cigars were called Los Libertadores, and they were quite mild. Things have obviously changed.

Today, La Flor Dominicana is defined by its ligero, the strongest type of leaves found on the upper portion of a tobacco plant. It’s always been an industry term, but Gomez normalized the word and brought it to the cigar-smoking public with his Ligero and Double Ligero brands. Inside those cigars are binder and filler that he grows today on his farm in the Cibao Valley of the Dominican Republic. According to Gomez, he couldn’t find the strong ligero tobacco he was looking for, so he decided to grow it himself.

Gomez’s desire for self-sufficiency has paid off and he’s become as much farmer as he is cigarmaker. He grows his tobacco in La Canela, a dry, hot microclimate within the Dominican Republic’s Cibao Valley. It’s precisely these conditions that make his tobacco stronger, spicier and more concentrated. Gomez runs La Flor with his wife, Ines, and two sons, Tony and Litto Jr.
