This is the third iteration of our website, and the first to have a blog. We hope you will enjoy some of the new features that were missing from our earlier versions:
- Our home page has actual content on the very first page, and the filmstrip navigation is a big improvement;
- Our gallery photos rotate on the foother of the homepage; the footer also shows the day’s tweets, as well as a link to a revamped Facebook page;
- We are showcasing the Claymore Times, a Whisky lover’s publication, exlusively on our website;
- The Special Events page is now in calendar format; this will make it much easier to plan and schedule events;
- Our contact page has a form for questions;
- The site images have been greatly improved; and
- This blog will provide you with a forum for thought and comment!
Over the next few weeks you will see additional features, including the launch of our online store. We know, we know: we’ve been promising it forever! Have faith, it’s coming … and so is a new mobile site.
Before we get to the blog content, we owe two people special thanks. This website re-engineering wouldn’t have been possible without the support and assistance of Gillian daSilva or Charlie Terzo; thanks, folks!
If you made it this far into the website you probably have more than a passing interest in things to do with cigars, pipes and their accoutrements. Whether you are new to the world of fine tobacco or a seasoned veteran, we think this blog will provide you with some perspective that balances some of the stories about tobacco that you experience on a daily basis.
As tobacconists, Kevin and I have met a lot of different people. Our clients, by and large, have more in common with oenophiles (people who love wine) than they do with cigarette smokers. Many of our clients come to the store only once or twice a year; they truly savour the experience and look forward to coming. This is a big part of what drew us to this industry! We enjoy the camaraderie and discussion that happens over a fine cigar or pipe. A community of like-minded individuals is coming together, all with the desire to enjoy some of life’s finer things.
In keeping with this observation, this blog will provide a reasoned voice on behalf of you, the aficionado. We’ll address issues that matter to our clients, and advocate for the right to enjoy ourselves in our chosen pasttime. We will be a forum for discussion, and a source of education that helps to balance the information being shared with the public.
If you have information about a cause we should be promoting, please use our contact page to connect with us. In the meanwhile, long ashes to you!
