As a fourth-generation tobacco grower and cigar producer in the Dominican Republic, Jochy has made a significant mark in the industry. His factory, Tabacalera Palma, is one of the oldest in the country, producing top-quality Dominican tobacco and supplying many brands you might already enjoy. In 2016, Jochy launched his own brand, La Galera Cigars, marking a new chapter for Tabacalera Palma.

If you appreciate well-crafted cigars, La Galera Habano stands out with its stunning band artwork and packaging. The tobaccos used are exceptional, sourced from Jochy’s farms in the Cibao Valley, except for the wrapper leaf, which is Ecuadorian Habano. This is combined with a Dominican Corojo binder and long-fillers of Piloto Cubano, Criollo 98, and Pelo de Oro. Falling in the medium-bodied range, these cigars deliver robust flavours of pepper, earth, wood, and a hint of fruity sweetness. Despite their premium price, the superior quality of the tobacco and craftsmanship makes them a worthy investment. La Galera Habano has garnered multiple 91-point ratings. As he calmly takes a slow draw from his caramel-like colored wrapped cigar, he realizes that everything is exactly the way he wants it. Staring fondly at a painting across his desk, he appreciates rollers in the factory nearly 80 years ago and a smile starts to reflect.
